Baton and Handcuffs Training
The Baton and Handcuffs training is vital for a licensed Security Officer wanting to advance their career in the security industry. For example, employers will consider this training a desirable extension to your skills, knowledge and awareness in handling valuables.
After completing the Baton and Handcuffs training course, our goal is to ensure you can confidently present and control a subject using a baton and apply the handcuffs if and when necessary. Further, having the ability to present a baton, using a baton to defend self and others, direct persons and further to apply handcuffs within the requirements of the law.
It is a requirement in the State of Victoria, that a licensed Crowd Controller / Security Guard, who carries a baton and or handcuffs for their employment hold a current certification and authorisation from their employer. Further information is published on the Victoria Police website.
Conditions of use
If you wish to work in Victoria with batons or handcuffs but hold an interstate security licence, you will need to provide your Victorian employer with evidence that you have completed training in batons and handcuffs. They may then authorise you to use these items on the job.
If you cannot demonstrate that you have completed the training in your home state, you will need to complete units CPPSEC3110 (batons) and/or CPPSEC3111 (handcuffs) with an approved Victorian Registered Training Organisation. At the time of renewal, all Victorian private security licence holders will have the following generic condition added to their licence:
Individual Licences: The licence holder is not permitted to carry or use security equipment, being a baton and/or handcuffs, unless the licence holder has the approval of the licence holder's employer and has undertaken training relevant to that security equipment from an approved security training organisation.
Business Licences: The licence holder must not permit any employee to carry or use security equipment, being a baton and/or handcuffs, unless the employee has the approval of the licence holder and the employee has undertaken training relevant to that security equipment from an approved security training organisation.

Course Duration
The Baton and Handcuffs training course will consist of 3 days of full-time attendance during the day or 6 nights of attendance in the evenings.
Day classes commence from 8.30am till 5.00pm and Evening classes commence from 6.00pm till 10.00pm.
All TAT instructors are fully recognised by the Licensing and Regulation Division of Victoria Police. Further, they have years of proficiency and maintained current competency in security industry thus providing ongoing industry skills and knowledge to potential security officers wanting to undertake the Baton and Handcuff training.

How much will the course cost?
The course will cost $350.00 during the day or $450.00 in the evenings consisting of a minimum deposit of $150.00 prior to course commencement for securing your enrolment position.
How do l Enrol?
To enrol in this course you will need to attend in person to our Broadmeadows Office with a valid security licence and complete an enrolment application together with a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) form. The course will cost $350.00 during the day or $450.00 in the evenings consisting of a minimum.
